Description
Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an orally administered antibiotic. It is prodrug of cefpodoxime, meaning it is not active until it is metabolized by the body. Similar to other cephalosporins, cefpodoxime proxetil interferes with the formation of the bacterial cell wall, a process called cell wall synthesis. This medication binds to specific enzymes called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) which are located in the bacterial cell wall.
