Description
Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, widely used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and otitis media (middle ear infections) in children. Its effectiveness arises from its ability to interfere with the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, specifically by binding to a target enzyme called penicillin-binding protein (PBP) located within the cell wall.
