Description
Ibuprofen works by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX), an enzyme responsible for producing prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are chemicals in the body that promote inflammation, pain, and fever. By inhibiting COX, particularly COX-2, Ibuprofen reduces the formation of these pain-causing chemicals.
