Product Overview
Nebcin Injection contains Tobramycin, a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections. Tobramycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, leading to cell death.
Indications
Nebcin is indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:
- Septicemia
- Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia)
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Meningitis (in select cases)
- Post-surgical infections

Dosage and Administration
- Adults: Usual dose is 3–5 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hours (IV or IM), depending on severity.
- Children and Neonates: Dosage is weight-based and adjusted by age and renal function.
- Method: May be given via deep intramuscular injection or slow intravenous infusion.
- Duration: Determined by infection type and response to treatment.
Renal function must be assessed before and during treatment to adjust dosing appropriately.
Contraindications
