Description:
OZFER Tablet is an iron supplement formulated to prevent and treat iron deficiency anemia. It provides elemental iron, a vital mineral necessary for the production of hemoglobin, which helps transport oxygen in the blood. Iron deficiency anemia can result from inadequate dietary intake, increased iron demand (e.g., pregnancy, growth), or blood loss.
OZFER tablets are designed for easy oral administration, providing a reliable source of iron to restore normal iron levels and improve symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, and pallor associated with anemia.
Mechanism of Action:
Ferrous sulfate in OZFER delivers elemental iron, which is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and incorporated into hemoglobin within red blood cells. This improves oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood, promotes energy production, and supports overall cellular metabolism.
Indications:
- Treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anemia
- Supportive therapy during pregnancy and lactation to meet increased iron needs
- Recovery from blood loss due to surgery, trauma, or menstruation
- Nutritional supplementation in cases of poor dietary iron intake
Dosage and Administration:
- Adults: Typically, 1 tablet (325 mg) once or twice daily, or as prescribed by the physician.
- Tablets should be taken with water, preferably on an empty stomach for better absorption, or with food if gastric irritation occurs.
- Avoid taking with milk, tea, or coffee, which may interfere with iron absorption.
- Continue therapy for the recommended duration to replenish iron stores.
Side Effects:
- Common: Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, dark stools
- Less common: Metallic taste, allergic reactions (rash, itching)
- Rare: Severe gastrointestinal irritation or toxicity in case of overdose
Precautions and Contraindications:
- Use cautiously in patients with hemochromatosis or other iron overload disorders
