This medicine is used to treat epilepsy. It contains Carbamazepine, an anticonvulsant, that prevents seizures by enhancement of sodium channel inactivation by reducing high-frequency repetitive firing of action potentials.

Uses
This medicine is used to treat:
Epilepsy (abnormal brain activity causing different forms of seizures)
To control and treat seizures during and after brain surgery.
To treat bipolar disorder in patients who are not responding to Lithium.
Dosage
Carbamazepine dosing recommendations vary based on the condition being treated, age, and individual response.
For Epilepsy
- Adults: Start with 200 mg twice daily, gradually increasing by 200 mg per day every week, as needed. Maintenance dose usually ranges from 800-1200 mg/day.
- Children (6-12 years): Start with 100 mg twice daily, increasing by 100 mg/day weekly. Maintenance dose ranges from 400-800 mg/day.
For Trigeminal Neuralgia
- Adults: Start with 100 mg twice daily, increasing by up to 200 mg/day, as needed, to control symptoms. Maintenance dose ranges from 400-800 mg/day.
For Bipolar Disorder
- Adults: Initial dose of 400 mg/day in divided doses, adjusted based on response. Typical maintenance dose ranges from 400-1600 mg/day.
In case of Overdose
Seek medical help immediately if you think you have overdosed on this medicaton.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don’t remember missing the dose, don’t double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.
