Description
Telmisartan works by relaxing the blood vessels to reduce blood pressure. It blocks the hormone angiotensin-II from binding to its receptor, ultimately slowing down the rate the kidneys remove fluid from the body, decreasing overall blood volume and decreasing blood pressure. Amlodipine specifically is used to decrease the workload on the heart to help improve blood flow to the heart and reduce blood pressure.
