Primary Uses
Indications
This medicine is used to treat Herpes Zoster (viral infection of the nerves; also called shingles), Herpes Simplex (viral infection caused by a group of herpesviruses; may produce cold sores, genital inflammation, or eye infection) associated with infections of the skin and mucous membranes (e.g. mouth) and suppression of recurrent infections, and for treating initial and recurrent genital herpes (infection by the herpes simplex virus of the genitals).
Side Effects
The patients administered with this medicine may experience headache, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, and skin reactions.
Warnings
Pregnancy
The effects of this medicine are undetermined in pregnant females. Therefore, please consult your doctor before use.
Lactation
The effects of this medicine are undetermined in lactating females. Therefore, please consult your doctor before use.
Precautions
The patients with renal (kidney) and hepatic (liver) impairment, hemodialysis (the process of filtering the blood of patients with abnormal kidney function), symptoms of neurological effects (brain-related symptoms), and the elderly should use this medicine cautiously.
Contraindications
The patients with complicated Herpes Zoster (viral infection of the nerves; also called shingles), low immunity such as those with herpes simplex, and high risk of systemic involvement should avoid the use of this medicine.
