Uses 

This medicine is used to treat infections caused by bacteria, including: 

Upper respiratory infections 

Ear infections 

Skin infections 

Urinary tract infections 

Dosage 

Follow these dosage instructions: 

Adult Dosage 

500 mg orally every 6 hours or 1 g orally every 12 hours 

Child Dosage 

250 mg orally every 6 hours or 500 mg orally every 12 hours 

In case of Overdose 

Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or diarrhea. Seek medical help if you think you have taken too much of this medication. 

Missed Dose 

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don’t remember missing the dose, don’t double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses. 

How To Use 

Take cephradine with a full glass of water. Cephradine can be taken with or without food. Taking the medicine with food or milk may ease side effects on the stomach. Complete the entire prescribed course of this medication. 

When Not to Use 

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to cephradine, or similar antibiotics such as Ceftin, Cefzil, Keflex, Omnicef, and others. 

Side Effects 

Common side effects include: 

Diarrhea that is watery or bloody 

Fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms 

Tightness in your chest 

Unusual bleeding 

Seizures (convulsions) 

Pale or yellowed skin, dark-colored urine, fever, confusion, or weakness 

Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes) 

Precautions & Warnings 

You should practice these cautions before taking the medicine: 

Talk to your doctor if you have hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any of the components in the medicine. 

Talk to your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or lactating. 

The patients with allergies to penicillin and renal (kidney) impairment should use this medicine cautiously.

Food Interactions 

The food interactions that should be considered while using Cephradine are: 

Avoid alcohol to reduce side effects 

High-fat meals may affect absorption 

Dairy products can interfere with absorption; take the medication at least 2 hours before or after consuming dairy 

Storage/Disposal 

Store the medicine at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and animals. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
