Description
Cephradine is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, which is essential for the bacteria’s growth and survival. Specifically, Cephradine binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located in the bacterial cell wall, disrupting the final stages of cell wall synthesis. This leads to the formation of defective cell walls and ultimately results in the death of the bacteria. Cephradine is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria.
