Arcenate 30 mg Injection is a parenteral antimalarial medication that contains artesunate, a water-soluble derivative of artemisinin, used primarily for the treatment of severe malaria, especially Plasmodium falciparum infections. This medication is administered either intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM), allowing for rapid absorption and action, which is critical in life-threatening cases of malaria.

Artesunate works by producing free radicals inside the malaria parasite, leading to damage of parasite proteins and membranes, which ultimately results in the parasite’s death.
