Description

Description

Dinoprostone is a prostaglandin that functions through a multi-step mechanism of action. First, it stimulates cervical ripening by promoting collagenase activity and increasing water content in the cervical tissue. This leads to softening and dilation of the cervix, facilitating labor. Additionally, dinoprostone induces uterine contractions by acting on the myometrium, enhancing the effectiveness of labor induction. It is particularly used in obstetrics for the induction of labor and for the management of missed or incomplete abortion.
