Description
Rifaximin is an antibiotic which is commonly used to treat traveler’s and also irritable bowel syndrome by stopping the growth of bacteria. It also helps in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy by stopping the growth of bacteria that produces harmful toxins.
How To Use
- It comes as a tablet and should be taken orally.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- Its normal dosage is of 3 times a day, but its better to consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Indications
This medicine is indicated in patients (above 12 years age) with diarrhoea. For reduction in risk of overt hepatic encephalopathy recurrence.
Side Effects
The side effects are as follows; bloating, gas, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, depression, headache, rash, muscle spasm, discoloration of urine and arthalgia (pain in the joint).
