Indications
This vaccine is indicated for active immunisation (protection) against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella in children from 9 mths-6yrs of age. Efficacy has not been evaluated in people above 6 yrs of age. The vaccine may be used in individuals up to 12 yrs of age based upon previous experience with the separate component vaccines PRIORIX (combined measles, mumps and rubella vaccine) & VARILRIX (varicella virus vaccine Oka strain).
Side Effects
This vaccine might produce pain and redness at the injection site with fever, irritability, or measles-like, rubella-like and varicella-like rash.
Warnings
Pregnancy
Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant.
Lactation
Please consult your doctor before getting this vaccine while lactating/breastfeeding.
Precautions
Defer the vaccine in patients with an acute febrile illness (sudden onset fever with unknown cause) and avoid pregnancy for up to 3 months after vaccination. In case of a minor cold & flu, the vaccination must not be delayed.
Contraindications
This vaccine has to be strictly avoided in case of pregnancy and one must ensure effective contraception during and up to 3 mths following the course. Acute febrile disease (sudden onset illness of unknown origin), immunodeficiency (lowered immunity) and neomycin (antibiotic) allergy are other reasons to avoid taking this vaccine.
